Mumbai: Polymer pipes manufacturer Skipper on Thursday said it has commenced commercial production of plumbing and agri pipes from its manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh.

With a capacity of 6,000 MTPA of plumbing and agri pipes, the facility at Sikandrabad in Uttar Pradesh marks the company's foray into the northern market.

"With this, the total pipes manufacturing capacity increased to 41,000 MTPA. This unit will cater to the demand of northern part of the country including Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, parts of Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu," the company said in a statement.

The new facility will allow Skipper to continue to grow and exceed consumer expectations, while strengthening its leadership in the polymer industry, company's Director Devesh Bansal said.

"Having crossed revenue of Rs 1,500 crore, the plant in Uttar Pradesh is our step towards capacity expansion. Our objective is to increase our momentum by installing facilities across India and continue to be the fastest growing company in the sector," he said.

Bansal also said with an initial capacity of 6,000 MTPA, Skipper will look at bagging at least 10 per cent of the market share in the region.

Skipper has 5 polymer pipes manufacturing units and is set to achieve a capacity of 1,00,000 MTPA by 2019.
