Six Companies Ink Deals to Develop IT Campuses in Kochi Infopark Project

The second phase of Infopark got a major fillip with six more companies inking deals to develop IT campuses in the 160-acre project in Kochi.

"Infopark, so far, has successfully achieved all the key targets both in terms of employment and IT space," state IT and industries minister P K Kunhalikutty said during an investors meet organised by Infopark in Kochi on Friday.

Expressing satisfaction over the progress of the ambitious Rs 2,500-crore project, the minister said the state government along with the local bodies will actively support Infopark and the development of related infrastructure facilities.

The companies that struck deal with the park are UST Global, Trans Asia, Claysys Technologies, Syscon group, Brigade Enterprises and Media Systems, in Phase II. Ferston Infratel Pvt  Ltd and Abad Builders jointly proposed to develop IT infrastructure.

Cognizant has already taken 15 acres in Phase II for developing campus. The first phase of its campus will be ready for operations this year.

"We have already initiated necessary steps to ensure solid growth in financial year 2014-15. Our target is to double the built-up area to 6 million square feet in by 2015," Infopark chief executive Hrishikesh Nair said during the meet.

"Also, Infopark is expecting the export revenue to cross Rs 2,000 crore during this financial year," he added.

The park expects to generate over 10,000 additional jobs during financial year 2014-15.

The Phase II will have all the amenities of an ultra-modern IT park with common internal roads, 220 KV gas insulated sub-station, storm water drains, cable trenches, data connectivity as well as water treatment and supply.      

In Phase I, work on the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) campus and Brigade campus is also progressing well. The TCS campus will be completed by the second quarter of this year while the first phase of the Brigade campus will be ready for operation by the first quarter of 2015.
