Indian stocks markets were lower today with recent outperformers coming under selling pressure.The Sensex was down 47 points at 20,677 while Nifty was off 25 points at 6,139.
Selling pressure was seen in auto, oil & gas and realty stocks which had run up recently.
Cairn India, Bajaj Auto and Jindal Steel & Power Ltd were down between 1.5 per cent to 2.5 per cent.
The Sensex had hit the 21,000 level yesterday but could not sustain the gains as profit-taking emerged at higher levels.
Asian stocks were mostly lower today as rising Chinese money-market rates countered signs of a pick-up in manufacturing.
Japan's Nikkei, and the Shanghai Composite were down nearly 1 percent.
