BSE Sensex and Nifty traded higher in afternoon trade with the frontline indices rising nearly 0.4 per cent. These indices were mostly lower in early trade.
Gains in capital goods, metal, power and realty stocks helped Sensex recover after it fell over 150 points in early trade.
Metal stocks were the biggest gainer with the BSE metal index up nearly 2.5 per cent, its fifth gain in a row. Sesa Sterlite was the biggest Nifty gainer, rising close to 6 per cent. JSPL, Hindalco and Tata Steel were up close to 3 per cent each.
The midcap and smallcap stocks continued to outperform with the BSE sub-indices rising over 1 per cent.
