Salman Khan's Kick Sets Sights on More Box-Office Records

Salman Khan-starrer Kick is aiming to break more box office records. Kick, into its third week, managed to pull in Rs 1.7 crore on Monday, taking its overall all gross domestic box-office collection to Rs 299 crore, according to Bollywood website Koimoi.com. Kick also has performed strongly overseas too, with its collection in those markets pegged at Rs 67.34 crore.

Kick's gross collection has been pegged at Rs 366.72 crore by Koimoi.com.

This makes Kick ranked fifth so far in terms of gross overall collection behind Dhoom 3 (Rs 542 crore), Chennai Express (Rs 422 crore), 3 Idiots (Rs 395 crore) and Krrish 3 (Rs 374 crore), according to Koimoi.com's figures.

Kick's success makes Salman Khan the first Bollywood actor to have seven Rs 100 crore movies to his credit, according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh: Ek Tha Tiger, Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Dabangg, Ready, and Jai Ho.

Kick is a remake of the hit 2009 Telugu film of the same name and the screenplay for the Hindi version was adapted by Chetan Bhagat and Sajid Nadiadwala, who's also the director-producer of the movie. The film has been released under the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner.

Author Chetan Bhagat said he may try donning the director's hat when he needs a new 'kick' in life.

With Kick, director Sajid Nadiadwala has also moved into record books. He has become director whose first movie has grossed over Rs 200 crore.

Released on July 25, Kick also features Jacqueline Fernandez, Randeep Hooda, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, among others. Kick was released over 5,000 screens in India and as well as 42 other countries.
