Mumbai: The rupee climbed for the third day, this time by 9 paise to 67.43 against the US dollar in early trade today on sustained selling of the American currency by banks and exporters.
Dealers said strong foreign fund inflows and a higher opening of the domestic equity market gave the local unit more strength.
The rupee had firmed up 16 paise to close at 67.52 yesterday.
Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex reclaimed the 27,000-mark by surging 220.29 points, or 0.81 per cent, to 27,220.01 in early session.
