Petrol and diesel prices hit a record new high in four metros across the country on Friday. The prices of both petrol and diesel were raised by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) today. The fuel prices were also increased on Thursday. The hike in fuel prices is mainly due to the recent rise in crude oil cost and the high excise duty levied on transportation fuel in the country, reported news agency IANS. Fuel prices today hit their highest level, crossing the previous peak reached on May 29.
