Monsanto India Posts 11% Fall in Q1 Profit

New Delhi: Agri-biotechnology major Monsanto India on Monday posted an 11.58 per cent drop in standalone net profit at Rs 62.79 crore for the quarter ended June.

The company had registered a net profit of Rs 71.02 crore for the corresponding period a year ago.

Total income fell marginally to Rs 263.30 crore in the quarter under review, from Rs 264.77 crore in the year-ago period, Monsanto India said in a filing to the BSE.

Monsanto India is a subsidiary of US-based Monsanto, which is engaged in selling agri-inputs. It is the only publicly listed Monsanto entity outside the US.

Shares in the company, on Monday, ended over 1 per cent higher at Rs 3298.35 apiece on the BSE.
