Maruti Suzuki May Sales Rise 14%

Maruti Suzuki's May sales rose 13.8 per cent year-on-year to 1,14,825 units.

At 11:25 am, the Maruti Suzuki stock was trading over 1.5 per cent up at Rs 58.55, outperforming the broader Nifty and the Sensex which were trading 0.35 per cent up.  Maruti Suzuki also outperformed the auto indices which were trading in the red.

Maruti Suzuki's domestic sales stood for the month of May stood at 102,359 units, up 13 per cent.

Exports for the country's largest automaker for the reporting month stood at 12,466, up over 20 per cent year-on-year.

The mid-sized segment comprising of Ciaz and SX4, saw the highest year-on-year growth during the month at over 4,000 per cent mainly on the back of the Ciaz launch in October 2014.

The mini segment that includes Alto and WagonR saw a growth of over 20 per cent during the month, while the compact segment which has Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Dzire saw a nearly 6 per cent fall in sales.

Sale of utility vehicles - Gypsy, Ertiga and Grand Vitara - rose 6 per cent during the month.
