Mahindra's auto sales rise 27% in April

India's largest sports utility vehicle maker Mahindra and Mahindra on Tuesday reported a 27 per cent rise in its auto sales in April 2012.


Sales grew to 40,719 units in the first month of fiscal 2012-13, up from 32,090 in the same period last fiscal. The passenger vehicles segment which includes the utility vehicles and the Verito posted strong growth of 33 per cent to 20,558 units, against 15459 units in April last fiscal.


Domestic sales grew 29 per cent to 39299 from 30349 units in the corresponding period last fiscal.


Exports, however, declined 18 per cent, from 1,741 to 1.420 units.
