Madhav Lal has been appointed as the Secretary in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
He succeeds Vivek Rae, who has become secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
At present, he is chief secretary in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).
Mr Lal, 57, is a 1977-batch IAS officer of J&K cadre.
