Sensex Rises Over 600 Points, Nifty Settles At 11,313: Highlights

Domestic stock markets registered sharp gains on Wednesday, snapping six days losing streak. After starting the session with a gain of 96.07 points at 37,628.05, the S&P BSE Sensex index rose as much as 677.86 points to touch 38,209.84 at the day's strong level. The broader NSE Nifty benchmark rose to as much as 11,321.60, up 195.2 points from the previous close. Gains across sectors except IT - led by banking and auto shares - pushed the markets higher. HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank contributed a total 357.77 points to the surge in Sensex.
