L&T chief AM Naik nominated as chairman of IIM(A) Board of Governors

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister S. Jaipal Reddy said the sale will be conducted through a one-day auction in the next couple of days.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has nominated AM Naik, Chairman and Managing Director of engineering major Larsen & Toubro as chairman of the Society and the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad) for a period of three years.

Naik will take over from Dr Vijaypat Singhania whose term ends on March 28, 2012.

Naik joined L&T in 1965 as a junior engineer. After being promoted as a general manager in 1986. he rose to became the chief executive officer and managing director of the company in 1990. He was subsequently appointed as a chairman in 2003.

In 2009, Naik was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award.
