Kiran Mazumdar Shaw apologises for tweet on Infy's Rohan Murty

On Twitter today, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw apologized for an earlier post in which she praised the presentation made by the son of Infosys executive chairman Narayana Murthy at a board meeting.

Ms Shaw is the head of Biocon, a healthcare company, and on the board of software giant Infosys.

On Saturday, she had tweeted, "At a recent Infy board meeting, I was most impressed by Rohan Murty's brilliant tech-loaded presentation, which will enormously benefit Infy."

She deleted that tweet and wrote, "I apologise for this inadvertant and improper tweet on Rohan Murty."

Ms Shaw's original tweet, had sparked an online debate about publicly discussing closed-door company matters.

Harvard-educated Rohan Murty, 31, was in June 2013 controversially appointed the executive assistant to his father.

Some analysts had suggested that he is being groomed for a possible leadership role. Earlier this year, Narayana Murthy dismissed those reports as "speculation". (Read)

Current Infosys CEO SD Shibulal said last week that Rohan's term will end with that of his father, who is scheduled to step down in 2018.

Narayana Murthy, who had left Infosys in 2011, returned to head the firm in June 2013.

The father-son duo each take home a token compensation of Re 1 per year.
