JSW Energy Rallies 12% on Acquisition of Power Assets

JSW Energy shares advanced as much as 12 per cent to hit intraday high of Rs 75.80 after the company said it has acquired Bina Thermal Power from Jaiprakash Power Ventures (JPVL).

JSW Energy's acquisition of the plant is expected at around Rs 3,500 crore. The plant has an installed capacity of 500 MW. 

Last November, JSW Energy had agreed to buy two hydro power projects from JPVL for Rs 9,700 crore.

Meanwhile, in another development,  JSW Energy informed BSE that "the company concluded the acquisition of 100 per cent of the securities of Himachal Baspa Power Company (HBPCL) which has two operating Hydro Power assets - 300 MW Baspa - II HEP and 1,091 MW Karcham Wangtoo HEP."

Shares of JSW Energy were in high demand today with 8,07,000 shares changing hands on the BSE compared to its two-week average of 3,89,000 shares.

Shares of JSW Energy ended 9.6 per cent higher at Rs 74.25.
