JSW accident: Company admin, contractor booked; nobody held

While the administration of JSW Steel Ltd and a contractor have been booked in connection with the collapse of a two-storey building in Lower Parel's Victoria House, no arrests have been made so far, police said today.

"An FIR has been registered against the administration of JSW Steel Ltd and contractor TCPL ," said Sudhakar Ghagare, senior inspector of N M Joshi Marg police station.

The FIR was registered against them under 304(A) (Causing death by negligence), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), he said.

According to sources, repairs and renovations were going on on the ground floor, which was unoccupied, at the time of the accident and TCPL was given the contract of carrying out repair and renovation work.

The investigation into the matter was on, Ghagare said adding, "As of now, nobody has been arrested." Two employees of JSW Ispat Steel died and six others were injured as one of its offices at Victoria House here suffered partial collapse.
