Jindal Power commissions second 600-MW unit at Chhattisgarh plant

Jindal Power Ltd, a company promoted by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL), has started its second 600-MW unit of the Tamnar project at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh.

"With the commissioning of this plant, the total capacity of Jindal Power Ltd has now reached 2,200 MW," JSPL said.

The third unit of 600 MW is ready for synchronisation, while the fourth unit of similar capacity should be commissioned by October, the company said in a statement.

"We intend to become a significant thermal power player in India over the next two years," JSPL managing director and chief executive Ravi Uppal said.

"We have a vision of having installed capacity of 10,000 MW by the year 2020 with a unique approach of amalgamating diverse forms of power, including thermal, hydro, solar and wind energy."
