IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering Tourism Corporation) introduced Premium Special trains with dynamic fare pricing, allowing passengers to get accommodation at short notice on busiest routes of Indian Railways. The fare structure of Premium Special trains differs from that of regular trains. According to the official website of IRCTC- irctc.co.in, dynamic fare stands for the fare component which may be increased with the subsequent bookings. This means that ticket price varies according to booking rate and seat availability. Only online booking at IRCTC's official website/app is permitted for booking tickets in such trains.
Online booking in Premium Special trains: Reservations for Premium Special trains open only 15 days in advance of the journey. The fares of these trains increase as berths are sold and the journey date approaches. This means lowest fare is paid when booking is done soon as the reservation opens. Dynamic fares are charged for confirm as well as RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) passengers on these trains. Identity card number of the prescribed proof of identity is required at the time of booking. Ticket booking is allowed in general quota only. Agents are not allowed to book tickets in premium special trains. Waitlist ticket bookings are not allowed in these trains.
Cancellation in Premium Special trains: Cancellation is not allowed in Premium special trains. However, ticket can be cancelled only if the train is cancelled, said IRCTC.
Concession in Premium Special trains: No concessions like senior citizens or others are applicable in these trains
Other features of Premium Special trains: Any kind of modification is also not allowed in premium special trains. Vacant berths left at the time of charting are offered for current booking at current booking counters of train originating stations, said IRCTC.
