Harley Davidson launches Street 750 at Rs 4.10 lakh

Harley Davidson has launched Street 750, its first made in India bike at Rs 4.10 lakh at the Auto Expo. The Street 750 will be the cheapest Harley Davidson bike in the Indian market. Bookings for the Street 750 will start from March 1, 2014, the company said.

This is the first bike from Harley's all-new platform in 13 years. The niche bike maker also plans to launch another bike called Street 500 based on the same platform.

The Street 750 establishes Harley Davidson's step into a lower displacement realm than it has operated in so far.

First bike outside US:

For the first time in Harley Davidson's history, this product will be manufactured outside the United States. So far Harley Davidson has only had assembly operations outside the US - in India and Brazil. But the Street will be made from the ground-up in India and also in Kansas City, US.

While the Kansas City production will cater only to the North American market, the Indian plant in Bawal, Haryana will supply to the local market and also to Europe. The number of export markets will gradually scale up over the next 2-3 year period.
