New Delhi: State-run Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd has appointed Cadila Pharmaceuticals CMD Rajiv Modi as an independent director on its board.
The company has also appointed Pallavi Shroff as an independent director. Ms Shroff, who is lawyer, also serves as an independent director at Maruti Suzuki Ltd.
Gujarat Alkalies said in a filing to the BSE that it has "appointed Rajiv I Modi, Chairman & Managing Director of Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Pallavi S Shroff, Partner of Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co, as Independent Directors on the board of directors of the company".
Gujarat Alkalies is one of the country's largest caustic soda firms with a capacity of 3.79 lakh tonnes per annum. Besides, the company also produces various chemicals, including hydrochloric acid and chlorine gas.
Shares in Gujarat Alkalis, on Thursday, ended at Rs 202.45 apiece on the BSE, up 1.48 per cent from the previous close.
