Future Capital gains ahead of likely deal with Warburg Pincus

Shares in Kishore Biyani- promoted Future Capital traded with strong gains in a down market Monday. The company is likely to announce a stake sale to global private equity firm Warburg Pincus, which is likely to pick-up 38-40% majority stake in the firm.  

At 10.31 a.m., the stock traded with 8 per cent gains at Rs 148.15 on the BSE, while the Sensex was down 0.85 per cent at 15,830.
The deal is seen at around Rs 162 per share and values Future Capital at Rs 400 crore. Pantaloon, which holds 53.67% in Future Capital, is likely to use the proceeds to pay back debt. The book value of Future Capital in Pantaloon stands at Rs 120 per share.

Shares in Pantaloon Retail traded 2.6 per cent higher at Rs 142.60.
