Drug firm Eli Lilly and Company India said on Tuesday that it has appointed Edgard Olaizola as its managing director for operations in India and Sri Lanka with effect from September 1, 2013.
Mr Olaizola will succeed Melt Van Der Spuy who has been promoted to the position of vice president for emerging markets (Latin America and Asia Pacific) for Elanco Animal Health, a fully owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company.
He brings with him over 13 years of experience in Eli Lilly, with a host of senior level positions across different markets, including US, Canada, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia.
Commenting on the development, Edgard Olaizola said,"India is one of the key markets for Lilly in Asia, with an immense opportunity to positively impact the lives of patients with our quality products and services."
Mr Olaizola holds a degree in Economics from Universidad Catolica Andres Bello and has completed his post-graduation in business management from Washington University in St Louis.
