Dr Lal PathLabs, Alkem Lab Soar Over 30% on Debut

2015 may not have been a great year for domestic stock markets, but investors who put their money in initial public offers (IPOs) are likely to have made good money.

On Wednesday, two companies made blockbuster debut. Diagnostic chain Dr Lal PathLabs, which raised around Rs 640 crore in its IPO, jumped nearly 34 per cent on first day of trade. Shares in Dr Lal PathLabs hit an intraday high if Rs 737 as compared to the IPO price band of Rs 540-550 per share.

Generics drugmaker Alkem Laboratories shares jumped nearly 33 per cent to hit a high of Rs 1,401. The company had raised Rs 1,350 crore in its initial public offering after pricing shares at Rs 1,050 each. Alkem Laboratories' IPO was subscribed 44.3 times. (Read)
