Cyclone Nivar: Check Time Limit For Claiming Full Refund On Cancelled Train Tickets

Due to the onset of Cyclone Nivar, Indian Railways' Southern zone has announced the cancellation of several special train services to destinations that are likely to be affected by unprecedented rains and cyclonic landfall. Some trains have also been cancelled due to operational difficulties. However, passengers need not worry about losing money as Indian Railways will provide a full refund of fare on tickets of those trains which have been fully cancelled due to the cyclone. According to the Southern Railways zone, the time limit for availing refunds has also been extended to six months from the date of the journey.

Along with this, for the passenger reservation system (PRS) counter tickets, the refunds on fare across the counter can be availed on submission of tickets at the counters up to six months from the date of the scheduled departure of the train. An auto refund facility is also available for the tickets booked online.

For the trains which have been partially cancelled, passengers can avail of a full refund for the untraveled portion until six months from the date of the scheduled departure of the train. An auto refund facility is available for the tickets booked online.
