China's Tencent Invests in Healthcare Platform Practo
Chinese internet firm Tencent has participated in a fund-raising round from healthcare platform Practo. Apart from Tencent, Google Capital and Sequoia India and other investors also participated in the fund round.

Practo raised $90 million (around Rs 570 crore) in the Series C funding round. Practo's platform allows users to search and connect with doctors, hospitals and diagnostics centres.

"Over the next 12-18 months, we will expand into new segments to cover fitness, wellness, hospitals & more, go to over 10 countries, look to acquire more companies and build new products that will help people live healthier and longer," Practo's founder and CEO Shashank ND wrote in a blog post.

Practo had closed a $30 million Series B round a few months earlier.

Practo has a team of 1,500 employees, rising from 400 in just six months. It is now looking at doubling the staff strength in the coming year.

"We aim to expand from the current 35 Indian cities and three countries to over 100 Indian cities and 10 countries across South East Asia, Latin America, Middle East and Eastern Europe," he said. (With Agency Inputs)
