Sensex Ends At Record High, Nifty Reclaims 11,900: Highlights
Domestic stock markets continued their winning run for the seventh consecutive session on Monday, with the S&P BSE Sensex index climbing to a record high. The Sensex rose to as high as 40,483.21 in intraday deal, up 318.18 points from the previous close. The broader NSE Nifty benchmark rose as much as 98.55 points to touch 11,989.15 on the upside, but remained 113.9 points shy of its all-time high recorded in June. Gains in metal stocks supported the markets however losses in auto and consumer goods stocks limited the upside. Infosys shares surged and were among the top gainers on both benchmark indices, after the software services company said it received no prima facie evidence to support the allegations in a whistleblower letter from last month.
