Britannia Industries reports 44.8% rise in Q3 profit

Bakery and dairy products maker Britannia Industries today said its net profit rose by 44.8 per cent to Rs 54.07 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2011, over the same period previous fiscal.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 37.34 crore in the corresponding period of previous fiscal, Britannia  Industries said in a filing to the BSE.

Net sales of the company rose to Rs 1,247.41 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2011, compared to Rs  1,080.50 crore in the same period previous fiscal.

For the nine months ended December 31, 2011, the company posted a net profit of Rs 133.71 crore, as against Rs 102.04  crore in the same period previous fiscal.

Shares of Britannia Industries today closed at Rs 493.95 on the BSE, up 1.45 per cent from its previous close.
