Britannia Industries Q3 net up 62.1 per cent at Rs 100.56 crore

Britannia Industries on Friday posted a 62.1 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs 100.56 crore for the third quarter that ended on December 31, 2013.

The biscuit manufacturer had reported a net profit of Rs 62.03 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago period, it said in a filing to the BSE.

Consolidated net sales rose 10.2 per cent to Rs 1,772 crore in the third quarter of the ongoing fiscal year (FY13), from Rs 1,608 crore in the same quarter of fiscal year 2012-13.

"In an intensely competitive market, we leveraged our strong brands and focused on fundamental levers of operation to deliver consolidated double digit revenue growth with 250 bps increase in operating margin," the company said.

Overall expenses during the quarter stood at Rs 1,654.33 crore during the quarter, against Rs 1,535.82 crore the previous year.

Shares in Britannia Industries, on Friday, ended at Rs 902.65 apiece on the BSE, up 0.43 per cent per cent from the previous close.
