Meanwhile, for the first quarter of current financial year, the Box Office is pegging its hopes from the most awaited film 'Bahubali 2: The Conclusion'.
"Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, will release on April 28, 2017. Earlier in Q2FY16, Bahubali: The Beginning rocked the box office with Rs 600 crore in collections worldwide. Stars spangled movies like Sarkar 3 (Amitabh Bachchan) and Tubelight (Salman Khan) are anticipated to do well," domestic brokerage Edelweiss said, adding: "Further, a strong English movie line up may also aid box office collection in Q1FY18. It is pertinent to note here that the base is also strong with releases like Fan, Baaghi and Housefull 3."
It also said that the Hollywood movies 'Kong: Skull Island', 'Logan' and 'Beauty and the Beast' too did well in terms of box office collections. "All this augurs well for movie exhibitors," Edeleweiss added. "Huge scale and screen additions place PVR and Inox in a sweet spot to capture higher share of box office pie. During first nine months of FY17 PVR added 19 screens while Inox added 26 screens."
Meanwhile, ticket prices moved higher in the last quarter of financial year 2016-17. PVR raised average ticket price by 5-6 per cent on a year-on-year basis on the back of good content and movies like 'Kaabil' and the 'Ghazi Attack' which picked up in the second week aided by strong content, according to Edelweiss.
