BHEL on Wednesday gained nearly 2 per cent to Rs 255.30, a day after it said that the company had bagged its largest ever order.

BHEL won an order worth Rs 17,950 crore from the Telangana State Power Generation Corp (TSGENCO) to set up a 4,000 MW plant at Yadadri.

BHEL shares however ended nearly 1.6 per cent down at Rs 247.05, underperforming the broader Nifty and the Sensex where closed 1.2 per cent down.

"BHEL has achieved a new landmark by securing the single largest order in its history for setting up a 4,000 MW (5x800 MW) supercritical thermal power project from TSGENCO," the company said in a statement.

The project is one of the highest orders ever placed in the capital goods sector in India, BHEL added.
