Banks' credit grows 17% in 2012-13, deposits at 17.4%

Indian banks' credit grew 17 per cent during the financial year 2012-13, while deposits grew 17.4 per cent, data from the Reserve Bank of India showed on Friday.

Month-on-month, bank credit grew 5.3 per cent to Rs 53.95 lakh crore as on March 29, while deposits grew 5.7 per cent to Rs 69.36 lakh crore, the data showed.
The Reserve Bank of India had projected credit and deposit growth at 16 per cent and 15 per cent, respectively.
