Maruti, which posted an over 20 per cent surge in total sales during the month, sold 98,109 units in the Indian market as against 86,613 units in December 2013.
Tata Motors saw its total sales increase by over 10 per cent. Its domestic sales grew nearly 8 per cent.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra saw an 8.3 per cent decline in total sales - including passenger vehicles, 4-wheelers and 3-wheelers - during the month. However, it posted an over 5 per cent increase in domestic market passenger vehicle sales during the period.
Among players in the commercial vehicle segment, Hinduja Group company Ashok Leyland posted 48 per cent growth in sales during the month.
Hero MotoCorp saw a marginal increase in sales last month as most players in this segment registered growth in sales figures.
TVS Motor saw about 18.7 per cent growth both in total and domestic two-wheeler sales.
Eicher Motors sold 28,634 units of motorcycles - an increase of over 48 per cent compared to December 2013.
Bajaj Auto, however, reported a 5.5 per cent drop in two-wheeler sales. The company notified in its filing to the BSE that it saw its "highest ever exports for any December".
