German car-maker BMW on Thursday launched its M5 sports sedan in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price of Rs 95.9 lakh.

The new model can be now ordered as a completely built-up unit (CBU) across more than 20 dealerships in the country.

"The new BMW M5 is a high-performance athlete in a business suit. The fifth generation of the high-performance sedan is now available in India from today," BMW Group India President Andreas Schaaf said.

The BMW M5 comes with a 4.4-litre V8 engine with M Twin Power Turbo technology, producing a maximum output of 560 HP.

The company also unveiled its concept car -- the BMW Vision ConnectedDrive -- at the 11th Auto Expo.

"The concept symbolises an advanced level of intelligent networking in the automobile world, which sets new benchmarks in convenience, infotainment and safety," Schaaf said.

On dealerships, the company said it is aggressively expanding its network in the country.

"We have 24 dealers now and in the next one-and-a-half years, we will take it to 40," he added.

Schaaf said, "Though there are concerns (about economy), we are confident 2012 will be a good year for us.
