Ashok Leyland Q2 Net Surges Over Two-Fold to Rs 287 Crore

New Delhi: Hinduja group flagship firm Ashok Leyland on Wednesday reported over two-fold rise in net profit at Rs 287 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2015.

The Chennai-based company had posted a net profit of Rs 121 crore during the same period of previous fiscal.

Net sales of the company rose to Rs 4,878.81 crore during the second quarter, as against Rs 3,150.36 crore during the same period of previous fiscal, Ashok Leyland said in a filing to the BSE.

"The market for commercial vehicles is back after a long period of downturn...this relentless focus on customer profitability is the primary reason behind the good results. A continued focus on cost control and reigning in of discounts also helped," Ashok Leyland Managing Director Vinod K Dasari said.

Ashok Leyland shares today ended at Rs 92.15 apiece on the BSE, up 1.99 per cent from previous close.
