"iPhone X on Airtel online store was sold out within minutes of opening the sale. Airtel will notify customers once fresh stocks arrive," an Airtel spokesperson told NDTV Profit.
Airtel said it will deliver the device free of charge to the customers' doorstep.
The iPhone X 64 GB model is priced at Rs 89,000 and the 256 GB model is pried at Rs 1,02,000. Customers purchasing iPhone X using Citibank Credit Cards will get a cashback of Rs 10,000, Airtel said.
The glass-and-stainless-steel device has been billed as "the biggest leap forward since the original iPhone," by Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook.
Across the world, lines formed outside Apple stores on Friday as fans flocked to buy the iPhone X signalling stronger demand for the 10th anniversary version of the premium smartphone than the last two iterations iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
Similar scenes of excitement and anticipation were seen around Apple stores Asia and Europe, Reuters said.
Apple's shares rose 2 per cent on Friday, hitting a record high and giving the world's most valuable publicly traded company a market capitalization of almost $890 billion.
