On Monday, Housing Development Finance Corporation or HDFC Ltd and HDFC Bank announced the merger of the two entities, setting the stage for one of the biggest deals in the Indian financial sector. As the merger became the talk of the town and sent people into a frenzy, Amul, in its inimitable style, jumped on board. Amul commemorated the merger with a topical ad that featured a play on the words “HDFC”, and a cartoon of the iconic Amul girl, in her red polka dot dress, blue hair and ribbon, and carrying bag entering a bank as the security guard opens the door for her.

In the topical, the diary brand wrote, “Home not alone anymore!” and added, “Hamara Daily Food Course,” highlighting the letters HDFC.

In a post on Koo, the company shared the topical.

Over the decades, the Amul topicals, featuring the brand's mascot, the little girl, have captured the most trending and important events.

A few days ago, the brand created a spoof of the Will Smith-Chris Rock showdown at the Oscars. During the event, actor Will Smith walked up to the stage and slapped comic Chris Rock as he made a joke about the actor's wife. This moment went viral worldwide, and soon Amul came up with a topical that read, “Chris rocked by slap!”, and added, “Snack. Don't Smack.”

The brand also issued a “plea to defuse the Russia-Ukraine conflict” through another topical a month ago. Amul's topical urged the two nations not to go from “from bad to wars”. It added. “Sign treaty with a treat.” The topical portrayed the Amul girl enjoying a toast with another girl at a border fence, flanked by tanks.

We hope the Amul topicals keep on entertaining us with their catchy and promising taglines and topicals for decades to come.
