Amara Raja Batteries on Thursday posted a 34.92 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 94.58 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2013.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 70.10 crore for the corresponding period a year ago, it said in a statement.
Net sales of the company rose to Rs 804.72 crore during the second quarter, as compared to Rs 716.15 crore a year ago, it said.
"I am happy to note that our sustained good performance continues to be in line with our annual plan and expectations, despite slowing economy, volatile rupee and sluggish demand in the automotive and UPS OEM sectors," Amara Raja Batteries vice chairman and managing director Jayadev Galla said.
Shares in Amara Raja, on Thursday, ended at Rs 315.30 apiece on the BSE, up 1.11 per cent from the previous close.
