Air India to pay pending salaries before Diwali

State-run Air India will pay salaries for September and October to all employees before Diwali, the airline said in a release today.

The airline will also pay performance-linked incentives (PLI) for all licenced category employees for the month of May and June, the release added. PLI has been abolished since July.

The development comes after Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh asked the airline to make up-to-date payment of salary to the employees.

The airline will incur an expenditure of Rs 230 crore for the payment of salaries and Rs 200 crore for the payment of PLI.
