Election Commission Praises Man for Voting Before Cremating Father

Patna: A voter in Bihar's Saharsa district, who voted first and then cremated his father's body, has been praised by the Election Commission.

The exemplary act was performed by Dular Chandra Vishwas in Saharsa's Sonvarsha Assembly constituency on Thursday during the fifth and final phase of poll.

"It is inspiring and it should motivate other voters," Additional Chief Electoral Officer R Lakshamanan told PTI.

Vishwas's father Magan Vishwas had died on Thursday morning, the day polling was scheduled in Saharsa along with eight other districts.

The relatives of Vishwas were busy making preparation for the cremation when he sought leave for some time and went to vote before performing the last rites of his father.

Vishwas cast his vote at polling station number 99 of Sonvarsha assembly segment in Saharsa district.
