China has built 36 hardened aircraft shelters at its Lhunze airbase in Tibet near the Arunachal Pradesh border The construction of the shelters gives China the option of forward-deploying fighter aircraft It also reduces the response time needed for the IAF to respond to any airborne threat from its own airbases
