Wedding revelry turned into a nightmare for at least 15 guests when a staircase at the venue of the ceremony collapsed during a photoshoot. According to The Sun, newly-weds Andrew Hughes and Amy-Lenna Bryce had just said their 'I dos' when attendees grouped together for professional photographs. That's when the staircase at the Holiday Inn in Hemel Hempstead, UK, reportedly gave way. While the bride and groom were not severely hurt, other guests suffered injuries on their legs, heads and necks. They had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to Mirror, the wedding party fell from a height of about 10 feet.

"People were still getting in to place when there was an almighty crack - it was almost instantaneous," a guest told The Sun. "People were screaming, it was horrendous."

The newlyweds had to reportedly cancel celebrations in the evening after the accident.

"I could get really angry, but now isn't the time," the bride's father, Christopher Bryce, told The Sun. "A lot of people are still recovering from their injuries and my main focus is to help my daughter in her recovery."

An investigation has been launched following the incident.

"We have been in constant contact with those impacted to ensure they have our support," a spokesman for Holiday Inn told Daily Mail. They have also offered to help the newly-weds reorganize their wedding celebrations.
