London: Polls opened Thursday in Britain's closest general election for decades with voters set to decide between the Conservatives of Prime Minister David Cameron, Ed Miliband's Labour and a host of smaller parties.

Doors at polling stations across the country opened at 7:00 am local time (0600 GMT), and will remain open until 10:00 pm with the final result due on Friday, though voters may have to wait days for a new government in the likely event of a hung parliament.
