Penn Station in New York Evacuated Over Suspicious Package

New York: New York's Penn Station has been evacuated as authorities investigate a suspicious package.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the evacuation took place Thursday night at the Manhattan station, one of the nation's busiest transit hubs. He says the suspicious package was reported at about 10 p.m.

Long Island Railroad service has been temporarily suspended between Penn Station and the Jamaica section of Queens. Subway trains are bypassing the usually bustling 34th Street station.

No other details are immediately available.
