Lahore:
A nine-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Pakistan's central Punjab province, police said today.
Passersby spotted the girl's body in an open plot at Ferozwala, 60 km from provincial capital Lahore, and informed the police.
Doctors at the district headquarters hospital in Sheikhupura confirmed the girl was raped before being killed.
Police have circulated the victim's photo in the area where the body was found in order to identify her. "Once the victim is identified, it will be easy to reach the culprits," a police official said.
In a separate incident, a man allegedly raped a 11-year-old disabled girl in Faisalabad district, 200 km from Lahore.
The victim's father, Mohammad Zahoor, told police that one of his relatives allegedly raped his daughter when she was alone at home.
Police registered a case against the accused.
