Moscow streets turn into Formula 1 race track

Moscow: The heart of Moscow was closed to traffic on Sunday to make way for a Formula 1 show right next to the walls of the Kremlin.

Ferrari's test driver Giancarlo Fisichella, Mclaren Mercedes's Jenson Button and Lotus Racing's test drivers Ricardo Teixeira and Karun Chandhok took part in the Moscow City Racing event.

It's an annual auto show that gives ticket holders the chance to watch F1 drivers showing off their cars and see technical crews at work.

Several thousand F1 fans bought tickets for this year's event, while hundreds more tried to glimpse what was going on from outside the stands.

Some even stood on the back of a truck to try and get a look.

The stunt team from BBC television's Top Gear programme also took part in the event, showcasing their bungee-jumping car.

They dropped a specially modified Nissan Micra 300 feet (90 metres) from the top of a crane, attached to a bungee rope.
