London: Man allegedly beheaded by two others, terror attack suspected

London: A man thought to be a serving soldier has been allegedly beheaded by two men in London, in what is being suspected as a terror act.

The two attackers, reportedly, got out of a car carrying a machete. They caught hold of the victim and beheaded him. They then reportedly dragged the body across the road.

There are reports that the attackers filmed each other and even asked the eyewitnesses to take pictures of them.

When police rushed to the spot, the attackers went up to them brazenly, but were shot by the cops. They are in hospital in serious condition.

The incident took place in a street near the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich. The police has confirmed that the attack took place at 2:20 pm.

Security was tightened in the area immediately after the incident. Helicopters hovered above and nearby roads were sealed off by the police.

"One individual is dead, two others are seriously injured and in hospital. The circumstances causing the incident are not yet clear. We will be trying to do everything possible to try and ensure calm in the area. People will be very, very shocked," said Nick Raynsford, the member of parliament for Woolwich and Greenwich.

"We think a serving soldier was the victim. We don't know the circumstances surrounding the incident. We do know a number of weapons have been seized. They include a gun, various knives, and a machete, apparently," Raynsford added.

A British government official who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the investigation said details had emerged that were indicative of a "terrorist-motivated attack."

While details were scant, Prime Minister David Cameron called the killing "truly shocking" and has called a meeting of his government's emergency Cobra security committee. Britain's government convenes Cobra meetings only to deal with incidents that have implications for national security.
