An Indian-origin man was seriously injured after he was shot by two gunmen riding a motorcycle in the Philippines, police said on Friday.
Sukhjinder Singh, 28, was heading home from his cousin's place late Thursday in Zamboanga City in the Philippines' southernmost island of Mindanao when the attack took place, the Mindanao Examiner reported.
Singh was shot twice in the head and body with a .45-calibre pistol and was immediately rushed to hospital, the police said.
Two Filipino thieves last year attacked a 23-year old Indian trader, Harpreet, in Zamboanga City where he operates a small business.
In October 2012, Philippines authorities detained five Indian nationals in Zamboanga City shortly after they arrived from Tawi-Tawi province.
The police said the Indian nationals had no passports and other travel documents and only carried a fake temporary Philippines labour permit.
A group of Indian nationals have settled in Zamboanga where they have started various businesses.
Some have also married local girls to legitimise their stay in the country.
