Google Memorializes First Ascent to Mont Blanc

Google's latest doodle memorializes the 229th anniversary of the historic climb to Mont Blanc by a frosty google doodle.

On 8 August 1786 Jacques Balmat along with Doctor Michel Paccard, both from Chamonix, did the first ever recorded ascent to Mont Blanc. Google memorializes the 229th anniversary of the historic climb to the "White Mountain" by a frosty google doodle.

The doodle shows the icy peak of Mont Blanc with two little black men climbing all the way up to the top of the peak. The doodle has a very calm feeling with forests at the foothills of the ice covered mountain, to create depth to the static doodle, other mountains can be seen at the background. The Google logo is marked across the white hill in a cloudy white shade, fitting perfectly with the scenery.

Mont Blanc meaning "White Mountain" is the highest mountain in the Alps and the highest peak in Europe outside of the Caucasus range. It rises 4,807 m (15,771 ft) above sea level and is ranked 11th in the world in topographic prominence.
