Clashes on Saturday in Egypt killed 79: report
Cairo: Egypt's interim government says clashes on Saturday between police and supporters of the country's ousted president killed 79 people.

The government tally, released Sunday and carried by Egypt's official MENA news agency, brings death toll of four days of violence in the country to 888 people killed.

The clashes started Wednesday when security forces backed by armored vehicles, bulldozers and snipers swept through two main encampments of supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi in Cairo. The 12-hour street battle sparked violence nationwide for days.

Morsi was forced out of power by the military on July 3 after millions took to the streets to demand he step down.
