Christmas miracle: A revival doctors can't explain
Colorado Springs: Doctors in the US state of Colorado are struggling to explain the recovery of a mother and her newborn baby who both appeared to have died during labour on Christmas Eve.

The mother suffered cardiac arrest and had no life signs and the baby was limp after an emergency caesarian section delivery.

But the infant revived under medical attention at the hospital in Colorado Springs - and the mother inexplicably started breathing again too.

Doctors simply can't explain it, but the couple said it was an "absolute miracle".

It's a miracle," says Mike Hermanstorfer, the father of the child. Mike is a relieved man after his wife Tracy and her newborn baby came back from the jaws of death.

"I got a second chance in life," says Tracy Hermanstorfer.

While Tracy mysteriously revived, the baby too started breathing. Doctors still can't explain the phenomenon.

"She was dead, she had no heartbeat, no breathing," says Dr. Stephanie Martin, maternal foetal medicine specialist at Memorial Hospital, Colorado Springs.

Well, all is well that ends well. For Hermanstorfer and family, this gift of life on Christmas Eve is something they are not going to forget in a hurry.
